Cisco Room series integration guide
Introduction
Ochno Power Conference 4 can be easily integration with Cisco Room Series.
Most newer Cisco Room Series supports full-featured USB-C connection for content share and BYOD and in especially in larger installations with longer distances and multiple O-PC-4 that is the preferable integration method. The descriptions below are for USB-C based integration and in the end some notes about when integrating with HDMI and USB-A.
Supported models
USB-C based integration is available on:
Cisco Room Bar
Cisco Room Bar Pro
Cisco Room Kit EQ
Cisco Room Kit EQX.
Firmware Updates
Important: There are three things that needs possibly be updated on the O-PC-4 to ensure optimal performance:
Upgrade O-PC-4 to Firmware 1.2.0
Ensure that you have installed the latest Ochno Management Console on the laptop you use for management
Since Cisco Room Series have some unique video-ingest aspects on the USB-C port, validate that you have the correct O-PC-4 Video IC Firmware. Check this guide on how to upgrade . If you integrate via HDMI instead of USB-C, you can ignore this last item.
Functionality with native MTR client on Cisco Room Series
It is recommended to set the video sharing user experince (config value MTRShareExperience) to Microsoft, not RoomOS. Found user Settings > UserInterface > Features in Cisco RoomOs config. Otherwise there will be cases where the video select screen will prevent the user from starting an MTR meeting.
MTR Meeting and BYOM mode shifting
The Cisco system supports sharing of audio and camera with the laptop via USB-C even when a MTR meeting is running on the system. On other UC System running MTR, the entire system shifts into BYOM mode when USB is activated and in this mode the end-user are not able to joint / start and MTR meeting. O-PC-4 have the concept of UC-mode and BYOM-mode that circumvents this issue with the usage of the “long-press” mode that shifts the system from UC mode to BYOM mode. Since Cisco Room Bar / EQ can be configured to keep the MTR user-experience running while in BYOM-mode it is recommended to keep the O-PC-4 in BYOD mode all the time.
Installation and user-experience
Depending on the number of required USB-C connections required, there are 3 different possible topologies for USB-C based integration. It is the same for both Cisco Room Bar and Cisco EQ as long as USB-C is used for the connection.
When using O-PC-4 in Daisy-Chain configurations (more than 4 USB-C connections), the following limits apply:
Only O-EC-10 can be used. O-EC-20 is not compatible with this setup
The 2 upstream O-PC-4 units needs to be connected to Port 1 and Port 2 on the central O-PC-4. If connected on Port 3 and Port 4 there will be too many USB tiers.
Configuration Notes
Contrary to when using other Android-based MTR system, it is recommended to run the system in UC System = BYOD Only. All other settings can be default. Auto-switch settings can be changed if needed.
